If I busk on private property (in this case- a mall exit ramp)- am I required to show the police written permission from the mall if he demands it? Is it up to the officer to show PROOF that the mall has authorized him to have me removed?
I would think that since I have played there for months on end without being asked to leave- I would have the understood permission of the owner(s). The mall in question contains numerous businesses and it is impossible to locate the person in charge of the parking lot or exit ramp. Aren't the police required to act on the request of a business rather than to presuppose I am trespassing? Mike strollivarius@yahoo.com |

Hi. Since you have been busking there for months without being asked to leave, it may be better to just 'let sleeping dogs lie' and don't get involved in finding official answers when you don't need to.

If the police can't provide written proof that the owner doesn't want a musician to perform along the exit ramp from his parking lot- I would think that he simply doesn't have any proof that I am not welcome there. The cop won't tell me the name of the owner of the property so I can assume that he is making up a story,
